It is caused by the wearing away of cartilage in the joints. the second kind attacks both young and old. The body attacks the tissues in the joints, causing them to swell. Doctors do not know exactly what causes this second kind of arthritis.

Aspirin can also be used to stop pain and reduce swelling. There is no known cure for either kind of arthritis.
