Wastes are produced as the body carries out life functions. The body needs to get rid of waste in order to stay healthy. The excretory system removes wastes from the body. Lungs, kidneys, intestines, and skin are each parts of this system. The lungs get rid of carbon dioxide and water. As you breathe out, you are releasing these waste products into the air. During digestion, material that cannot be digested is moved to the large intestine. In the large intestine, water is removed from the material and it becomes solid. the solid waste moves into the rectum. From there, the waste leaves the body through the anus.
